The Simplicity of Surrender
I will try to not complicate this: the simplest and best path to spiritual victory is to surrender to God’s will.
Struggling with hatred towards your neighbor? Surrender.
Fighting with unhealthy desire? Surrender your desires to God.
Worried sick over a family member? Surrender.
Fearful over finances? Surrender the fear to God.
Not talking to your spouse because you’re too proud to say you’re sorry? Surrender.
Afraid to commit your life to God because you might not be able to live holy? Surrender your insecurity to God.
Hey, you’re in good company; Jesus Christ prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane the night before his crucifixion, “39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39).
He knew He was about to die, to face God’s wrath for the sins of mankind. He could see the pain, the mocking, the torture He was soon to endure. And He cried out to God for a way out!
But He surrendered. “Not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
Not my way, but your way God.
Say it out loud, “Not my way, but your way God.”
